A Dream Too Real
Fandy is an angry boy.
This came not as a shock, but more of an epiphany. I almost broke my feet last night. Whilst sleeping no less.
~~~
I had a dream. And my dream dictated myself having a walk somewhere in JB. Why JB? Because I've read a report saying a man was robbed by a syringe-wielding dude there. So that was how the tragic story of my dream and its woeful aftermath came to light.
Approaching me was an elderly Tionghua gentleman who had a syringe half-filled with a suspicious red-coloured liquid. His face showed determination and clear desperation for a purpose I dared not find out. His eyes locked on mine. Today was not a good day to be robbed, the thought flickered through my mind.
I did a 180 and there, approaching steadily was another figure coming towards me. And it was coming fast. But not fast - FAST, cos it was shuffling hurriedly, its laborious actions made it look faster than the actual speed it was progressing. A woman. The old man's accomplice? Flanking me from the back? Is that his wife? But i had more important issues. Like, are these senior citizens really gonna mug me?
I was cornered, the skinny alley denying me the pleasure of skipping away from the prehistoric crooks.
I turned around again and with my left leg, flew a firm roundhouse kick I had practised many times from the few John Woo movies I've watched. A move any respectable Van Damme fan would be proud of. I recalled vividly how the old man's face suddenly morphed into a wall and the sound of my toes crashing into it woke me up from my slumber.
~~~
I had kicked my wall. I was in pain. I'm screaming and amongst the darkness of my room i could barely make out a bleeding angry gash beside my now freshly bruised toe nail.
I didn't realise my mom was already in my room. "Ko da gila kepe malam-malam buta terpekik terlolong?" She scolded.
"Orang tengah kesakitan dier bleh marah plak!" And showed my mom the injured digit whilst explaining how its sad circumstance came about.
She walked off.
I was stunned by her nonchalance, but was distracted still by the throbbing pain. Taking a closer look at the injury, i noticed my mom returning.
"Nah, amek." She handed me a plaster.
"Ni cover pimple pon tak cukop..."
"Ko nak aku call ambulance?"
"Da...takyah."And I proceeded to apply the plaster. Surprisingly it was big enough to cover the mother of all wounds.
Looking at it closer, she said, "Eeee..ni nanti biler kau mandi...dier punyer sakit...Fuuuuhhh....memang padanla ngan muka kau. Tula...balik lambat lagik. Tido tak cuci kaki kan?" My mom decided to show her sensitive side.
"Aper yg tak cuci kaki? Orang mandi ah sbelom tido~"
"Mandi pon tetap bau macam kambing."
"Apa ni pagi-pagi kacau orang tido ni?" I tried a comeback.
"Ek-eh...bukan aku yang tendang tembok."
And with that...i turned around and fell back to sleep. Embarassed and in pain.
